Beyond Borders is a talk presented in the context of the exhibition Borders of Freedom / Contornos de Libertad, on November 18, 6pm PST, 8pm CST. The talk will feature three artists from different regions, Abigail Reyes from El Salvador, Arshia Haq from Los Angeles, USA, and Liliana Hueso from Tijuana, MX, who will be in conversation with the curator of the exhibition Patricio Majano from Y.ES Contemporary. The talk will address themes related to gender and freedom, considering the work of the artists, the region they live in and their personal stories. We will offer simultaneous Spanish Interpretation. This talk is presented in collaboration with LACE, and with the support of CECUT and the Arts Faculty of UABC.

Beyond Borders es una charla presentada en el contexto de la exhibición Borders of Freedom / Contornos de Libertad el 18 de Noviembre, 6 pm PST, 8 pm El Salvador. La charla presentará tres artistas de diferentes regiones, Abigail Reyes de El Salvador, Arshia Haq de Los Ángeles, EEUU, y Liliana Hueso de Tijuana, MX, quienes estarán en conversación con el curador de la exhibición, Patricio Majano de Y.ES Contemporary. La charla abordará temas relacionados al género y la libertad, a través de la obra de lxs artistas, las regiones que habitan y sus historias personales. El evento contará con interpretación simultánea al español. Esta charla es realizada en conjunto con LACE, y con el apoyo del CECUT y la Facultad de Artes de la UABC.

Y.ES Curator and Interim Director, Patricio Majano, participated in the ALT(ering) + SHIFT(ing) + COMM(uning) conversation series. Patricio Majano spoke with independent curator Ilaria Conti and discussed artistic practices in El Salvador, institutional and independent strategies to support Salvadoran artists locally and internationally, and the cultivation of creative exchanges across Central America.

El Curador y Director Interino de Y.ES, Patricio Majano participó en la serie de conversatorios ALT(ering) + SHIFT(ing) + COMM(uning). Patricio Majano conversó con la curadora independiente Ilaria Conti, y discutieron prácticas artísticas en El Salvador, estrategias institucionales e independientes para apoyar artistas salvadoreños local e internacionalmente, y el fomento de intercambios creativos a través de Centro América.

IE University, Madrid hosted a talk with YES Contemporary Founder Mario Cader-Frech, Salvadoran artist Melissa Guevara and YES Contemporary team's Patricio Majano on the theme Salvadoran art: trauma assessment and management strategies. The talk followed a screening of the Borders of Freedom exhibition, which connected the concept of freedom to trauma management and agency, and considered the tools artists use to gain freedom from trauma. Thanks to Catalina Tejero and IE University for their collaboration. 

IE University organizó una charla con el fundador de YES Contemporary, Mario Cader-Frech, la artista salvadoreña Melissa Guevara y Patricio Majano, del equipo de YES Contemporary, sobre el tema del arte salvadoreño: evaluación del trauma y estrategias de gestión. La charla se realizó después de una proyección de la exposición Fronteras de la Libertad, en la que se relacionó el concepto de libertad con el manejo y la agencia de los traumas, y se examinaron las herramientas que utilizan los artistas para liberarse del trauma.
